Addition of new, “realistic” features better simulate patient scanning

Oct 3, 2014 (Norfolk, Va.) CIRS recently introduced a new Prostate Training Phantom designed for use in both diagnostic and interventional procedures, which features partial bladder, digitally modeled prostate gland, seminal vesicles, urethra, and perineal membrane.

Proprietary CIRS materials, Zerdine® and Z-Skin™, are used to better emulate patient scanning with improved ultrasound contrast between the prostate and background tissue, and more accurately simulated rectal wall. The gel formulations provide CT, MR and elastography contrast for multi-modality imaging. The phantom accommodates end-fire and side-fire ultrasound transducers.

The phantom is available in two configurations: one with embedded lesions (Model 070L), and one without embedded lesions (Model 070S).

The Prostate Training Phantom joins the existing lineup of CIRS prostate phantoms (Model 053 series).
