Model 008M enables MRI QA with motion and gears up for emerging use of MR in RT

Norfolk, Va. (Sept 11, 2014)— CIRS released the MRI-LINAC Dynamic Phantom at the AAPM Annual meeting in Austin. This is the first of the CIRS dynamic phantoms to be compatible with MRI systems for MRI quality assurance and radiation therapy applications.

As MRI becomes more heavily utilized in image-guided radiation therapy, CIRS identified a need for a phantom to perform end-to-end QA testing. The CIRS MRI-LINAC Dynamic Phantom is used to assess MRI image quality and test tumor localization and motion-capturing capabilities. It is designed for comprehensive analysis of image acquisition, planning and dose delivery.

The MRI-LINAC Dynamic Phantom joins CIRS’ existing lineup of dynamic phantoms, which includes the Dynamic Thorax Phantom (Model 008A), Dynamic Pelvis Phantom (Model 008P) and Dynamic Platform (Model 008PL). Each of these products is operated using CIRS Motion Control Software.

The full line of CIRS Dynamic Phantoms, including the MRI-LINAC Dynamic Phantom, will be displayed for customer demonstrations at the ASTRO Annual meeting, Sept 14th -17th in San Francisco.
